We offer opportunities for people in our local communities to get involved and volunteer across all areas of our organisation. Volunteering is a fantastic way to learn new skills, build confidence, meet new people, or simply give back to your community.
We understand that everyone’s time is different, so we are flexible to suit your schedule - there’s no minimum time commitment required. Whether you can give an hour a week or more, there’s a role for you.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life - retirees, students looking to gain experience, people returning to work after a break, or anyone with a little time to spare. Opportunities are available across our three stores in York, Scarborough, and Selby.
Opportunities in Our Stores
Volunteers in our stores take part in a wide range of activities, including:
Administration tasks to help our stores run smoothly
Merchandising and arranging stock
Van deliveries and collections of furniture
Repairing items in-store
Sales assistant roles including working on the tills
IT ReUse Volunteering (York Store)
Based in our York store, IT ReUse is a project where volunteers process, wipe, and repair IT equipment. These devices are then donated to members of our local community, helping to bridge the digital divide. Click here to find out more!
Build to Thrive Programme
For those who need extra support, we offer Build to Thrive, a structured 8-week placement. Participants join a cohort that runs three times a year and receive:
1-to-1 support
Training, including CV building
Guidance to help take the next step into employment, education, or further volunteering
